Counselling for the whole family
While children are born ready to learn and grow, they need someone to teach them skills to navigate this challenging world. There is still a strong stigma around Mental Health, and so many adults (and now some parents…) weren’t able to learn these same skills themselves. So how are we supposed to teach our children when we don’t have these skills ourselves?
At Tutum Counselling, we aim to facilitate healthy families by teaching children foundational skills and engaging parents in this process. Let’s learn together!

Katie Tompkins
Registered Social Worker, Founder & Owner
Hello! My name is Katie, and I am a Registered Social Worker with the Alberta College of Social Workers. I am completing my social work clinical registry, which means I will be able to provide formal assessments and diagnoses upon completion. I’ve been in the industry for 10+ years, and I have provided services in several settings including schools, group homes, non-profits, government and private sector.
I like to think my approach is fun and engaging despite it being counselling (AKA a space to be vulnerable and emotional). I offer a skill based and directive approach meaning we can work towards rewiring the brain to gain new perspectives and means to support yourself (Yes this is possible!).

Questions
This will vary from person to person, but many of our clients experience positive, long-lasting changes within 8-12 sessions.
Individual counselling is $170 per 50 minute session and family counselling is $200 per 50 minute session.
Yes in certain circumstances. Please discuss this with your counsellor.
The short answer is yes. While each situation is unique, typically unless a parent has lost their parental rights through court process their consent is required for their child to receive services. If a parenting order states the custodial parent has sole medical decision making then consent from the other parent is not required. Please contact us if you have any concerns around this.
This does not have a simple answer as the three have many differences and many similarities. Everyone at Tutum Counselling is required to have at least a master’s level degree, licensed to provide therapeutic treatment, and are qualified to provide various psychological treatments.
At this time we do not offer Direct Billing. Please stay tuned as it will be offered in the near future. In the meantime, you will receive a receipt after each session in which you can claim with your insurance.
We require 24-hours notice to cancel appointments. Any missed or cancelled appointments within 24-hours are subject to a cancellation fee equal to your counselling fee.
