Issues commonly addressed in family counselling:
Let’s be honest, families are complicated and they come in all shapes and sizes. No matter who you consider family, family therapy aims to promote understanding and collaboration amongst each member in order to minimize problems and increase positive memories.
Narrative Therapy puts emphasis on helping people embrace being the expert on their own lives. There is an emphasis on the stories people develop and carry with them throughout their life. These stories influence how people see themselves and the world.
Narrative therapists work to help clients put together their narrative in a way that allows clients to find their voice and explore events in their lives and the meanings they’ve built around those experiences. The client and therapist look at the story to identify the dominant stories and deconstruct problematic stories.
Structural Family Therapy
Structural Family therapy is a type of therapy that focuses on the interactions between family members. Looking at the family as a system, structural family therapy will work to improve communication between family members and encourage adjustments in the rules that govern how the family functions.
This will vary from person to person, but many of our clients experience positive, long-lasting changes within 8-12 sessions.

If a parenting order states the custodial parent has sole medical decision making then consent from the other parent is not required. Please contact us if you have any concerns around this.
This does not have a simple answer as the three have many differences and many similarities. Everyone at Tutum Counselling is required to have at least a master’s level degree, licensed to provide therapeutic treatment, and are qualified to provide various psychological treatments.
